1. About These Terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of the MusicTutor.net website and any services provided through it. References to “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Purodem Ltd trading as MusicTutor.net.
Students and parents agree to these terms by submitting an enquiry through our website. The statement below the enquiry form submit button constitutes notice of, and agreement to, these terms.
Tutors agree to these terms by completing payment for a lead at checkout, where explicit acceptance is required before payment is processed.
Casual visitors who browse the website without submitting an enquiry or purchasing a lead are not bound by these terms beyond standard website terms of use.
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page.
2. What MusicTutor.net Is
MusicTutor.net is an independent directory that connects students and parents with independent local music teachers. We are not a music school, a teaching agency, or an employer of tutors.
The tutors who receive enquiries through this website are independent professionals. They are not employed by, contracted to, or agents of Purodem Ltd. They set their own pricing, availability, lesson format, and teaching approach.
Our role is limited to facilitating the introduction between student and tutor. We are not a party to any agreement reached between a student and a tutor following that introduction.
3. Student Terms
3.1 Submitting an Enquiry
When you submit an enquiry through our website, you confirm that:
- The information you have provided is accurate
- You are at least 18 years old, or are a parent or guardian acting on behalf of a minor
- You agree to be contacted directly by a tutor in response to your enquiry
- You have read and understood section 2 (What MusicTutor.net Is) and section 5 (Our Responsibilities and Limitations)
3.2 No Guarantee of Tutor Contact
We will make reasonable efforts to forward your enquiry to a suitable local tutor. We cannot guarantee that a tutor will be available in your area, that a tutor will respond to your enquiry, or that any specific tutor will be able to take you on as a student. If we are unable to find a tutor for your enquiry, we will endeavour to let you know.
3.3 Your Relationship with the Tutor
Once we have introduced you to a tutor, any arrangement for lessons is made directly between you and the tutor. Purodem Ltd is not a party to that arrangement and accepts no liability for:
- The quality, content, or suitability of lessons provided
- The tutor’s qualifications, DBS status, or insurance arrangements
- Any loss, injury, or harm arising from lessons or any interaction with a tutor
- Cancellations, refunds, or disputes between student and tutor
We strongly recommend that you satisfy yourself about a tutor’s credentials and suitability before committing to lessons. If a tutor will be teaching children, we recommend verifying their DBS clearance directly.
3.4 No Charge to Students
There is no charge to students or parents for submitting an enquiry or using this directory.
4. Tutor Terms
4.1 Joining the Network
By enquiring about joining the MusicTutor.net tutor network, you acknowledge that you understand the service as described on our For Tutors page and in any communications we have sent you. No commercial commitment is made by enquiring.
By purchasing your first lead at checkout and accepting these terms, you confirm that you:
- Are an independent music teacher operating your own professional practice
- Hold appropriate enhanced DBS clearance if you teach children
- Hold public liability insurance covering your music teaching activities
- Will represent your qualifications, experience, and availability honestly to students
- Will respond to student enquiries within 48 hours of receiving contact details, even if just to decline
- Accept these Terms of Service in full
4.2 Independent Status
You are an independent professional. You are not an employee, worker, or agent of Purodem Ltd. You are responsible for your own tax affairs, professional conduct, insurance, and compliance with all applicable law, including safeguarding obligations when working with children.
4.3 Lead Purchases
When a student enquiry is available in your area, you will receive a notification email with a redacted summary. To receive the student’s full contact details, you purchase the lead at the price shown at the time.
Lead prices are set by Purodem Ltd and may change from time to time. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay.
Each lead is sold to one tutor only. The first tutor to complete payment receives the student’s contact details. If another tutor pays first, your payment will not be processed and you will not be charged.
By completing payment at checkout and accepting these terms, you agree to the conditions in sections 4.4 and 4.5 below.
4.4 Non-Refundability
Once payment is confirmed and the student’s contact details have been delivered to you, the lead is non-refundable. We do not issue refunds on the basis that:
- The student did not respond to your contact attempts
- The student chose not to proceed with lessons
- The student was already in contact with another tutor
- You later decided the lead was not suitable for you
If you believe the contact details you received are clearly invalid or fraudulent, please contact us within 48 hours and we will review the matter at our sole discretion.
4.5 Acceptable Use
You may use student contact details only for the purpose of responding to their lesson enquiry. You must not:
- Use student contact details for any other marketing or commercial purpose
- Share student contact details with any third party
- Contact students about any service unrelated to music lessons
- Misrepresent your qualifications, DBS status, insurance, or availability to students or to us
4.6 Removal from the Network
We reserve the right to remove any tutor from the network at our discretion, including where we have reason to believe a tutor has misrepresented their professional status, behaved inappropriately towards a student or parent, used student data in breach of these terms, or acted in a way that brings MusicTutor.net into disrepute. Removal does not entitle a tutor to a refund of any prior lead purchases.
5. Our Responsibilities and Limitations
5.1 No Vetting
We do not conduct background checks, verify qualifications, check DBS certificates, or carry out quality assessments on tutors. We ask tutors to confirm they meet the standards in section 4.1, but we do not independently verify those confirmations.
Students should satisfy themselves about a tutor’s suitability. We accept no liability for any harm, loss, or damage arising from a student’s interaction with a tutor found through this directory.
5.2 Website Availability
We aim to keep MusicTutor.net available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We accept no liability for any loss arising from website downtime or service interruption.
5.3 Accuracy of Information
We aim to keep information on the website accurate and up to date but do not warrant that it is free of errors. Tutor availability and coverage may change without notice. We accept no liability for decisions made in reliance on information published on the website.
5.4 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Purodem Ltd’s total liability to any person in connection with MusicTutor.net, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, shall not exceed the amount paid by that person to Purodem Ltd in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss, including loss of income, loss of business, or reputational damage.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
6. Intellectual Property
The MusicTutor.net website, including its content, design, and branding, is owned by Purodem Ltd. You may not copy, reproduce, or use any part of it without our written permission.
7. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those sites and do not endorse them.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of MusicTutor.net will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not affect any mandatory rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
